About us

Mike Carpenter has lived in northern Maine his whole life, growing up on his parents’ farm.  The family used draft horses in the potato and grain farming operation and hence, Mike’s passion for the big horses today featured in Acadia National Park.  A lawyer by profession, Mike divides his time between his practice and his first love, the horses of Acadia.  The general manager of the operation is his daughter, Emily Carpenter, also a horse lover from birth.  In 2009, Emily went from showing Quarter Horses to the heavy horse world and fell in love with her “big boys”.  In addition to driving Pete and Gub daily on tour, Emily manages the site, the crew and the private boarders who book to come and ride the world-famous Rockefeller roads.  Contact us if you would like to know more.
